Leacock Museum National Historic Site
Visit the summer home of celebrated Canadian humourist Stephen Butler Leacock.
Located on Old Brewery Bay, Stephen Leacock found inspiration to write his novel Sunshine Sketches of a Little Town, basing the town of Mariposa on Orillia. The museum houses the world’s largest archival holding of Leacock manuscripts. The collection covers the 1869 to 1944 time period, focusing on Orillia, Lake Simcoe, and Montreal as they relate to the life and times of one of Canada’s most famous sons.
The Leacock Museum brings to life stories and experiences connected to the Leacock Family’s love of literature, recreation, gardening, and the site’s stunning waterfront property. Visit them for a guided tour or explore on your own.
