Aux Trois Couvents

Visit one of the first French settlements at this place of historical and archaeological discoveries!

Also known as the breadbasket of Quebec City, Côte-de-Beaupré is one of the cradles of French North America, with European settlers landing there nearly 400 years ago. Archaeological excavations at the site have revealed convents and windmills built upon the site, as well as the remains of Samuel de Champlain’s first dwelling outside of the walls of Quebec.

Come tour permanent exhibitions about the history of one of the first French settlements in North America. Attractions include the excavated foundations of the first two convents (built in 1694 and 1830) that can be seen inside the preserved convent built in 1907, a recreated classroom from 1912 and temporary exhibitions on the cultural identity of the Côte-de-Beaupré.

Aux Trois Couvents is fully accessible.
