Call for Candidates for Election to the Board of Governors

The National Trust for Canada is accepting expressions of interest from candidates to serve on its Board of Governors for the 2025 -2028 term.

Do you have a passion for the work of the National Trust, a desire to help build its financial resources and strategic directions, and a track record of governance experience? Governors promote the National Trust’s mission, ensure its financial stability, define its strategic objectives, and monitor policies, plans, programmes, and activities.

The Nominations Committee is seeking candidates who have a strong interest and experience in governance. The following are also considered assets: experience in fund development or finance; ability to work in both French and English; experience or connections in philanthropy, government relations, or corporate Canada; experience in dynamic and culturally diverse contexts; experience working or thinking in a national context; a strong interest in heritage places, the environment, diversity, and inclusion, or social justice.

The National Trust Board seeks to reflect the diversity of Canada’s population and to include people from a range of regions, cultures, language,s and perspectives.  This means creating a welcoming environment for all people and ensuring that each individual has a voice at the board table.

In order to retain the regional make-up of the Board, the Nominations Committee is particularly interested in candidates normally resident in: NL, PE, NS, QC, MB, YT, NT, or NU.

The Board anticipates advancing a slate of five candidates for election, up to one of whom may be a candidate for re-election.

Interested candidates, or members of the National Trust who would like to propose candidates, are asked to submit a cover letter outlining their interest in the Board and qualifications as well as a résumé to the Nominations Committee no later than 5:00 pm EDT on March 14, 2025.
