Susan was one of the original founders of the Winnipeg Architecture Foundation (WAF) in 1996. Since 2011, she has been the full-time volunteer Director of this charitable organization dedicated to educating the public about architecture. Current WAF initiatives include: the WAF website (www.winnipegarchitecture.ca); an oral history programme; free public tours, talks and exhibits; the curation of the annual Architecture+Design Film Festival, now in its 16th year; and, the publication of 24 books. Most recently she co-authored Osborne Village, an architectural tour and Winnipeg Places&Spaces, a comprehensive guidebook to 24 neighbourhoods in Winnipeg.

Nneka is a Black Afro-Métis woman, momma, and descendant of ancestors who survived the Transatlantic Slave Trade, built North America through forced and free labour, and pursued freedom through the Underground Railroad to Canada in the 1840s. A relationship builder, stone-catcher, freedom fighter, storyteller, and leadership coach, she has inspired philanthropic investment for almost 30 years and founded the Black Canadian Fundraisers’ Collective. An author and co-editor of Collecting Courage, she served as an inaugural UBC EDI Scholar-in-Residence. Through The Empathy Agency Inc., she supports equity-minded leaders to thrive and helps organizations build trust and conditions that keep them.

Suki is grateful to reside on the traditional, ancestral, and unceded territory of the Hupacasath and Tseshaht First Nations. She is committed to supporting ongoing reconciliation and is inspired by teachings such as, “Everything has life and is interconnected.” She was a co-presenter of Planning for Cultural Identity: Hearing the Voices of the Community at the 2019 Heritage BC Conference and has served on the board of Heritage BC since 2023. She believes that every family’s stories and artefacts are significant. Through her work, she hopes to deepen understanding of our diverse histories and foster appreciation for intangible cultural heritage.

Ellen is a student at the Willowbank School of Restoration Arts.  Her work is centred on the cultural landscapes of craft, the relationship between tangible architecture/landscapes and the intangible craft traditions that are imbued within them.  Ellen is the student representative on the Willowbank board, the co-chair of the Woolwich Heritage Committee, and a board member of the SSAC (Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada).  She is currently creating a list of endangered crafts in Canada, with the aim of building a network for traditional apprenticeships.
