Griffin House
Built in 1827, Enerals Griffin and his wife purchased Griffin House in 1834 after escaping slavery into Canada. The Griffins were among some of the first Black Settlers in the area, and the site represents an important period of Black history in Canada. For the next 150 years, descendants of the Griffins would live and farm at this hilltop home in peace.
Visit this preserved early 19th century home, set on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Dundas Valley. Explore the history of Enerals Griffin and other early Black settlers and enjoy a walk along nearby trails.
Griffin House is not fully accessible at this time.
