Whether you’re restoring a historic structure, planning a commemoration project, or scaling up a proven initiative, explore these upcoming deadlines and free professional development resources to help advance your work in preserving Canada’s rich heritage.
Funding Opportunities
New Brunswick: Built Heritage Program
- Focus: Projects that conserve heritage places while preserving their unique value, including heritage buildings, structures and landscapes
- Amount: $7,500 – $50,000
- Deadline: September 7, 2025
Canadian Heritage: Canada History Fund
- Focus: Learning materials, activities, networks for Canadian history and civics.
- Amount: Varies.
- Deadline: September 15, 2025
Nickle Family Foundation | Calgary
- Focus: Environment, inclusion, heritage and arts in Calgary region.
- Amount: Typically $5,000–$20,000.
- Deadline: September 30, 2025 (also March 31)
Canadian Heritage: Commemorate Canada
- Focus: Commemorations of significant national events, places, or figures.
- Amount: Varies by project.
- Deadline: October 1, 2025
Canadian Heritage: Legacy Fund-Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage
- Focus: Projects that restore, renovate, or transform an existing building or exterior space for community use
- Amount: 50% of eligible project expenses up to a maximum of $500,000.
- Deadline: Before the anniversary date of the event or personality to be commemorated.
Vancouver Heritage Foundation: Heritage Conservation Grants
- Focus: Planning and conservation for heritage buildings in Vancouver.
- Amount: Planning: up to $2,000–$3,000; Conservation: up to $7,500–$25,000 depending on applicant; 5-year caps $20,000–$70,000.
- Deadline: October 22, 2025
Library & Archives Canada: Documentary Heritage Communities Program
- Focus: Preservation of documentary/institutional heritage by archives, libraries, museums.
- Amount: Varies.
- Deadline: Fall 2025 (call opening)
Ontario Trillium Foundation: Grow Grant
- Focus: Scale up established programs or services—expand, improve, or adapt offerings that already demonstrate community impact, across sectors such as sports & recreation, arts & culture, environment, and human & social services.
- Amount: $100,000 – $600,000 total, with funding requested between $50,000 – $200,000 per year over a 2 or 3-year term
- Deadline: November 5, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. ET (application period: October 8–November 5, 2025)
Digital Museums Canada: Community Stories & Digital Projects Grants
- Focus: Content development and digital storytelling
- Amount: $25,000 – $250,000
- Deadline: December 1, 2025
