The City of Fredericton, Capital Region Association of Geocachers, Graham Nickerson for Atlantic Canada’s Hidden Histories Geotour

This award recognizes the creative marriage of geocaching, history and heritage places to bring new attention to hidden or erased Black history in Atlantic Canada. Geocaching is GPS based, with no need for a physical building to tell a story:  in some cases the Geotour brings seekers to lost places that tell a stronger story of erasure and loss than any monument could do. Partnering with historic places, museums, historical societies and geocaching groups, this initiative brings new audiences to 16 inaugural locations in New Brunswick and Nova Scotia.
