Locale – Winter 2017

Introducing Locale, our new magazine. In it, we celebrate places that matter and the people who bring them to life. In this first issue published at the start of the 150th anniversary of Confederation, writer Emily Morrison reflects on Canada’s Centennial in 1967-2017: Our Fragile Centennial Legacy and Chris Wiebe explores the physical legacy of Canada’s Residential Schools in the wake of the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions of Canada’s Final Report in Honouring the Truth: The Physical Legacy of Canada’s Residential Schools. Finally, we feature CBC’s Still Standing television show and its host Jonny Harris in James Careless’ piece, Bringing Humour to Canada’s Hardest-Hit Communities.
